The purpose of these events is to promote the Music Chapel and to make the students known and to help them embark upon their professional career. The synergies that the Music Chapel develops with the country's cultural institutions (La Monnaie/ De Munt, BOZAR, Flagey, Museum of Musical Instruments (MIM), Charleroi Center for Fine Arts, Belgian and foreign festivals, etc.), give young talents an opportunity to enlarge the scope of their professional experiences and to affirm their artistic personality. Attendance and/or participation at the major concerts organized by the Music Chapel are obligatory (Gala Concert, benefactors' concert, Christmas concert at the Royal Palace, radio and television broadcasts, etc.). Cancellations are authorized only in case of duly reasoned force majeure. For concerts organized by the Music Chapel on behalf of third parties, students will respect their commitments as being the equivalent of a contractual arrangement between the Music Chapel and the student. It is explicitly understood that the Music Chapel does not act as an employer towards the students, unless duly specified as such in a contractual arrangement. An artistic evaluation of the student will be carried out twice a year. The cooperation of the student in programming and performing the concerts will be taken into account in his overall evaluation. Overview of the program Artist Diploma Module - artist diploma Exceptionally gifted musicians may be admitted to the Artist Diploma Module leading to the Artist Diploma. The Artist Diploma of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel is an advanced ("graduate level") non-degree program. It provides focused studies for young artists in the pre-professional stages of their careers. Qualification to enter this program is predicated exclusively on the level and quality of performance and/or achievement, rather than the attainment of specific academic credentials. Nevertheless, most entrants will have completed their formal music education at a music conservatory or an equivalent institute of higher music studies. The Artist Diploma is a program that varies in length from two to three years. Young artists must be invited to continue their studies into the second and third years. Under exceptional circumstances, a young artist may be invited to continue his/her program for an additional year, after having obtained the Artist Diploma. Tuition It is the policy of the Music Chapel to cover 50 per cent of the artistic expenses by the tuition fees payable by the students. The other 50 per cent of the artistic expenses, as well as all overheads and non-artistic expenses, are financed by the general operating budget of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. The tuition fees payable by students amount to EUR 12.500 per year for the individual sections (piano, violin, cello and voice), except for the Preparatory/ Young Talents modules (8 to 15 years) for which the tuition fees amount to EUR 7.500 per year. For chamber music ensembles the tuition fees payable per ensemble amount to EUR 7.500 per year. As from the academic year 2013-2014, students in the individual sections was invoiced for tuition fees on a quarterly basis, according to the following schedule: · Registration fee EUR 500 payable latest by July 14, 2013 · First quarter EUR 4.000 payable by October 5, 2013 · Second quarter EUR 4.000 payable by January 4, 2014 · Third quarter EUR 4.000 payable by April 5, 2014. Students in the preparatory module and in the chamber music section will be invoiced as follows: · Registration fee EUR 500 payable latest by July 14, 2013 · First quarter EUR 2.500 payable by October 5, 2013 · Second quarter EUR 2.250 payable by January 4, 2014 · Third quarter EUR 2.250 payable by April 5, 2014. Scholarships Each student can apply for financial assistance, on the basis of proven financial need. To this end the student will fill out a Scholarship Application Form. Financial assistance may take the form of an eponymous scholarship provided by a benefactor of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, or a general scholarship provided by the Music Chapel itself, financed by revenues from its endowment funds. Members of chamber music ensembles should apply individually for a scholarship. The Executive Committee will decide on the scholarship awards. If, in the sole opinion of the Executive Committee, the student does not adequately support his financial assistance request, he will not be awarded a scholarship. Each student is required to pay the registration fee (EUR 500), i.e. the maximum (full) scholarship amounts to €12.000 or €7.000, as the case may be. The majority of the students benefit from a partial or a full scholarship.
